
April 21 (Renewables Now) – Swiss vitality storage options supplier Leclanche SA (SWX:LECN) has landed an order to provide an 11.9-MWh battery storage system for a photo voltaic park within the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The LeBlock lithium-ion battery storage system shall be put in on the 5.6-MW Sembach photo voltaic park within the municipality of Enkenbach-Alsenborn, close to town of Kaiserslautern, to function intermediate storage for frequency regulation and stabilisation of the facility grid.
The storage facility consists of 16 battery blocks, 4 combiblocks and an 8.78-MVA energy conversion system related to the 20kV/50Hz grid, Leclanche mentioned on Wednesday.
The order has been awarded by Olmatic, a Germany-based supplier of vitality optimisation options for plant operators.
After the deployment of the storage system, the municipal operator of the plant will be capable to participate within the vitality balancing market by way of a software program answer of Salzburg-based Cognify and feed in main balancing vitality when wanted with a view to improve grid stability.
The Sembach ground-mounted photo voltaic park has been in operation since 2006.
