Brazil units value cap for Might 27 public sale

April 28 (Renewables Now) – Brazil’s energy sector regulator Aneel authorized a value ceiling for the public sale scheduled for Might 27, 2022, which is able to contract electrical energy from new renewable vitality vegetation.

Dubbed A-4, the public sale will contract hydro, wind, photo voltaic and biomass-based thermal energy initiatives. The best most bidding value is BRL 315 (USD 62.8/EUR 59.4) per MWh.

Total, 75,250 MW have registered with Brazil’s state-owned vitality analysis agency EPE to participate within the bidding course of. Of this, 73,256 MW is wind and photo voltaic.

For initiatives and not using a contract, the preliminary value can be BRL 315 per MWh for hydro and biomass-fired, and BRL 225 per MWh for photo voltaic and wind.

Concerning initiatives with each grants and contracts in place, the preliminary costs can be BRL 268.45/MWh for small and mini-hydro, BRL 187.69/MWh for giant hydro and BRL 204.65/MWh for wind.

A-4 will award energy buy agreements (PPA) with a 15-year time period for wind and photo voltaic, and with 20-year phrases for the opposite sources. Energy provide is scheduled to start out on January 1, 2026.
